Los Gallos

Salvador Roberto Torres Papers, CEMA 38, Department of Special Collections, University Library, University of California, Santa Barbara.

Some Los Gallos members owned custom cars and utilized their custom design to reflect their creativity and imagination. Standing car clubs like the “Bean Bandits,” “Road Links,” the Prowlers,” and the “Roadsters” were seen as leaders. Los Gallos members found places in the city to park, socialize, drink, and enjoy the views of the shimmering lights of Tijuana or of the boats off in the distance. This was one way of surviving and creating spaces for themselves within San Diego’s conservative military environment.
